- Additional Information:
- New graduates of Rutgers switch over to alumni in their RU-ONLINE records throughout the year; the largest alumni data loads occur in August, January, and February. These records are retained approximately 2 years. If an alumnus has an RU-ONLINE record in WorkFlows, they need only present current personal photo identification to register for borrowing, they do not need to present an Alumni ID card. The online records will have Profile GUEST, Status ALUMNI, Privileges Expired the current guest borrower expiry date, and Last Load the date the record was loaded with an alumni status.
- 'Older' Rutgers graduates will not have a RU-ONLINE record and must present an Alumni ID card, which should include their new RU ID number. If these alumni do not have an Alumni ID card, refer them to your campus Alumni Office for an ID card and remind them to be sure to obtain their new RU ID number at the same time. All three campus Alumni offices issue cards during regular office hours, M-F, 8:30-4:30. - If at any time you think an individual is trying to register with someone else's Alumni ID card or check out books with someone else's Alumni Guest Borrower card, you may also require a personal photo identification.
- Instructions:
- Edit and update barcodes and addresses on RU-ONLINE alumni records if needed. Create a new user record for alumni with Alumni ID cards and enter their new RU ID number in the Alt ID field. Set the expiry date so that alumni have AT LEAST one year of borrowing privileges using 6/30 or 12/31 as expiration date. Issue a blue plastic RUL Guest borrower card. Write the patron's name on the card; do not write an expiration date on the card. When renewing annual borrowing privileges for active alumni borrowers, personal identification is sufficient to continue privileges; patrons do not need to present an Alumni ID card.
