Who is Eligible for Off-campus Access and when it Begins and Ends

FACULTY employee When you have a valid NetID* 90 DAYS after your contract ends (10 month employees), or on your separation date submitted by your department to the university.
FACULTY emeritus+ 24 hours after you have a barcode in your RUL library record and a library PIN. When your privileges expire in your RUL library record.
STAFF employee When you have a valid NetID* 90 DAYS after your contract ends (10 month employees), or on your separation date submitted by your department to the university.
STUDENTS When you have a valid NetID mid-August if you do not register for fall, or mid-January if you do not register for spring
SUMMER STUDENTS   Rutgers summer students may use their NetID   mid-August if you do not register for fall
 24 hours after nonRutgers summer students+ have a barcode in their RUL library record and a library PIN. mid-August
WINTER STUDENTS   Rutgers winter session students may use their NetID   January 31 if you do not register for spring.
 24 hours after nonRutgers winter session students+ have a barcode in their RUL library record and a library PIN. January 31
ADMIT COMING Students When you have a valid NetID October 15 if you have not registered for fall, or March 15 if you have not registered for spring.
ALUMNI (May grads)   mid-August if you are not registered for fall
ALUMNI (Dec grads)   mid-January if you are not registered for spring
Retirees    On your separation date submitted by your department to the university.
Visiting Scholars+ 24 hours after you have a barcode in your RUL library record and a library PIN. When your privileges expire in your RUL library record.
UMDNJ Students, Faculty, and Staff in UMD-RU joint programs recognized by the Libraries 24 hours after you have a barcode in your RUL library record and a library PIN. When your privileges expire in your RUL library record.

* Early arrival process: if your department contacts OIT and asks to add you as an early faculty or staff, you may be granted a temporary record in the Rutgers Online Directory, and then can create a NetID. When you show up on payroll, your permanent data overlays your temporary record.

+ Faculty Emeritus, Visiting Scholars, and nonRutgers Summer and Winter Session students may have guest NetIDs. However, because of their Guest status with the University the Libraries' proxy will not recognize their NetIDs. Visiting Scholars and Faculty Emeritus must register with the library and use barcodes and PINs for off-campus access.
