Hold Cancellation Messages

The message the patron receives depends on other characteristics such as current location of the item attached to the hold or whether the patron was previously notified.

The patron receives the Hold Cancelled because the item is missing when the hold is attached to an item with a current loc of MISSING, LOST-PAID, LOST-REPLA, OVD-RECALL, WITHDRAWN, and CLAIMS_RET.

***HOLD CANCELLATION NOTICE***
Your hold on the library material listed below has been cancelled because the item is missing from our collection. This item is now eligible for E-ZBorrow at https://www2.libraries.rutgers.edu/login/ezborrow.php or interlibrary loan.
If you have questions about this notice, please contact the Circulation department of any Rutgers library or write to Ask a Librarian at http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/ask_a_lib/ask_a_lib.shtml.

The patron receives the Hold Cancelled because the item is on-reserve when the hold is attached to an item with a current loc of RESV-XXXX.

***HOLD CANCELLATION NOTICE***
Your hold on the library material listed below has been cancelled because the item is needed for course reserve. This item is now eligible for E-ZBorrow at https://www2.libraries.rutgers.edu/login/ezborrow.php or interlibrary loan.

The patron receives the Hold Cancelled because the item was not picked up if there is a "date notified" indicating a hold pickup notice was sent.

***HOLD CANCELLATION NOTICE*** Your hold on the library material listed below has been cancelled because the item was held for you at your pickup library for two weeks and not picked up. If you have questions about this notice, please contact the Circulation department of any Rutgers library or write to Ask a Librarian at http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/ask_a_lib/ask_a_lib.shtml

The patron receives the Hold Cancelled for other reasons if it was not selected by one of the three conditions above

Your hold on the library material listed below has been cancelled for one of these possible reasons:

  • You placed a hold on an item already in your specified pickup library (or in another library on the same campus as your pickup library),
  • Your hold was cancelled at your request, or
  • You placed a hold on an item that does not circulate.
