Robeson Librarian Assumes National ACRL Role
At American Library Association's annual convention in June, Robeson Library's Vibiana Bowman
became chair of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Chapters Council.
Meeting twice a year, the Chapters Council is the organization within ALA that is comprised of the
officers of all the state councils. ACRL has charged the Chapters Council to disseminate
information from the ACRL board to the officers at the state level; promote membership; and
facilitate, shape, and implement ACRL policies and goals.
We congratulate Vib on her prominent one-year national leadership post.

The New Jersey Women's History website, a digital project of the Women's Project of New Jersey
(WPNJ), will receive a certificate of commendation from the American Association for State and
Local History (AASLH) at the Association's annual dinner on September 30th.
The New Jersey Women's History website is a collaborative effort of WPNJ with the Margery Somers
Foster Center, the Scholarly Communication Center, Special Collections and University Archives, and
the New Jersey Historical Society. Ferris Olin, the director of the Margery Somers Foster Center,
is the project director of the New Jersey Women's History website.
AASLH, the only comprehensive national organization dedicated to state and local history, provides
services and leadership to thousands of institutional and individual members. Based in Nashville,
Tennessee, AASLH can also be reached online at their website:

Did You Know ...?
Special Collections and University Archives participates in the Research Libraries Group SHARES
initiative, in which special collections units in member libraries loan rare books and manuscripts
to each other. In a sign of the significance of our holdings, loans from Rutgers far exceed (more
than fivefold!) our requests to borrow materials. Borrowing libraries have included the Getty
Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, Princeton University, and Harvard University.
