Librarian's essays win contests

Congratulations to Connie Wu, Engineering Librarian at the Library of Science and Medicine, who recently won two literary prizes.

One of her essays titled of "Grandma, I want to talk to you" won the third place prize in the First International Asia Pacific War Literary Contest on August 20, 2005. Connie donated half of the cash prize to the New Jersey Alliance of Learning & Preserving the History of W.W.II in Asia to support their educational projects.

Another one of her essays titled "A Decent Musician" won the fifth place prize in the Sino Literary Award Contest on Sept. 10, 2005.

Both essays were written in Chinese.

Special Collections bibliographer wins award

The Libraries take pride in the recent news that New Jersey bibliographer Bonita Craft Grant will receive an award from the New Jersey Historical Commission, "in recognition of her sterling service to the history, archival, and library communities in New Jersey."

The award will be presented at the luncheon of a New Jersey Historical Commission conference celebrating the 85th anniversary of the women's suffrage amendment. The conference will be held November 19th in Trenton.
