Procedures for Shelving EAL Newspapers & Journals
New Journals (Receivers write title in English on cover) - Chinese, Japanese & Korean (Shelved by title)
Some books open from back to front - check page numbers to verify
- Stamp & tattle tape - 2 stamps
- EAL on cover
- NB on title page
- Journals are shelved by title according to country
Reshelf Journals - collect from cart in Reading Read
- Reshelf journals by title according to country
- Before leaving EAL reading room - pickup any journals on tables & reshelf
Newspapers - Already received & stamped NB & EAL - 1 Korean, 1 Japanese & 3 Chinese
- When newspapers are stamped and date written in red - The Asahi Shimbun newspaper opens differently - so mark date on page 1 (read from back to front) on left side at center fold
- Newspapers are hung from a rack - holds 3 most current issues
- Older issues shelved on bottom shelf by Chinese journals
- Papers with sections - everything opened in order - lay one section on top of the other
- Separate each newspaper with 1 slat in between each paper - rubber band to hold together
- If newspaper contains single sheet - turn sideways (World Journal)
- Magazine section (World Journal) shelved separately by Chinese journals
- Smaller newspaper sections should be opened and laid on top of each other on the hanging rack (Korean Times)
- Only keep 2 full months and current on bottom shelf by Chinese journals
