Library Collection Development Policies Statements inform university and interested external constituencies how collections are being developed to support educational and research mission of the university.
A major initiative to create comprehensive collection development policies statements was undertaken in 1992. Much has changed since then and it is time to take a fresh look at what is needed. Electronic resources, which are now equally accessible to all members of the Rutgers community and are for the most part are purchased from a central fund, have had an major impact of the collection development throughout the system. Another significant factor has been the development of more effective means for other types of resource sharing within and outside of the university.
