The new books list will be separated into four parts: LC call numbers, SuDoc numbers, electronic resources, and other. Author, title and publisher’s information will show in the new books list. LC and SuDoc will be in call number sequence. Electronic resources and others will be ordered alphabetically by title.
New books will be identified for the list based on catalog date. Bob will test the policy to see if there are too many books in the list. Then, we may limit the publication date to recent years.
Items in the list will link to IRIS records, so library location will not be included in the list. If two libraries have the same title, the book will only appear in the list once. A title with multiple volumes will show once in the list. Some titles may appear on more than one list.
Bob re-arranged item display in Test IRIS to include the fields Type Circulate?, Sub Location, and Status and left more space between each item label. The Copy field was removed. The committee approved the changes as our working model. Additional changes will need to made to the Advanced Search page, and other record display changes may be needed.
Stephanie prepared a Mid-year report. We all read and approved it.
Stephanie found a diacritic displayed incorrectly in IRIS and reported it as an error. Bob thought it might have been because of SIRSI using Marc character set. Li mentioned that Microsoft Word may be the cause because different versions of Word display characters differently. However, we are still not sure if different character sets will make the diacritics display differently. More research is needed.
