Minutes of April 6, 2000 Meeting
- Mike Giarlo met with the LIS Committee to talk about progress on the
implementation of the booking module.
- Bob Warwick will be appointed as a member of the LIS Committee.
- Discussion about purchase of the new Unicorn server revealed that:
- it is not practical for RUL to run a mirrored server
- the production server will contain the full database; the test server
will contain the small, test database; when the production system is down, the
"enhanced" test server will replace the small test database and be a static,
read-only version of the production database and patron files
- this read-only version has limited value, but better than no access
- contingency plans for down time will be developed for each module
- communication chain will be updated by Judy Gardner
- the message re availability of WebCat has been changed; full information
will be available from the News web page
- LIS reviewed request for general WorkFlows training for non-technical
services staff and librarians; to be included are: finding an order, an order
date, the fund code, date of receipt, finding a title, has a serial issue been
received, has the issue been claimed; Hemmasi will send note to LIS for their
review and then send announcement re training session to RUL
- records from Herbarium, SAGE, and Criminal Justice will be removed from IRIS
- a review of PAC will be initiated with the purpose of renewing the charge and
appointing a new membership
- Unicorn Users' Group meeting will be held in Huntsville, May 24-27
