All of the modules have been tested and no problems have been found that preclude us from installing the upgrade as planned. Generally, the various modules function as well as (or better than) they did, although Cataloging and Acquisitions reported a few issues that are still considered problematic. Mary Beth will compile a list.
The pull list for RDS will need to be recustomized and Chris still needs to determine whether any other reports will need revision. There are also new features available that will require additional investigation.
The upgrade will proceed on January 2 and the Workflows client will need to be updated on January 3. Chris will send a notification to RUL_everyone about the necessary system downtime. PALCI will also be notified.
All Workflows C client permissions will be disabled in 2009 since it will no longer be needed for Media bookings.
A small group has been meeting to work on implementing the user-initiated bookings option to allow users to book their own media through IRIS instead of submitting a separate online form requiring Media staff to mediate the process. Some of the problems with the process will be solved by the new client after the upgrade in January. The major challenges that remain are logistic rather than technical (e.g., setting the calendar and coordinating between multiple units that have media).
The current plan is to work on the process during the spring semester with the hope of implementing it in the summer.
Chris - There will be a power shut down on the Busch and Livingston campuses on the afternoon of December 26th. All library systems/servers will need to be powered down well in advance and brought up again once power is restored. The projected downtime is approximately 8 hours.
Nancy - ARL statistics are due in January. Nancy will be contacting people about data in their areas.
Stephanie - There will be a demo of the new books list for a joint meeting of USC and LRC on Thursday, December 18.
Bob - Serial Solutions brief records will be upgraded in 2009 to include persistent IDs. This should simplify record loads since it will no longer be necessary to batch withdraw all existing brief records before a new batch is loaded. They should match and overlay based on the new IDs.
There will be no LIS meeting in January. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the TSB conference room.
