Harry distributed a revised Draft Multiyear Marketing Plan for RUL, covering Spring 2013-Fall 2015. Discussion focused on additions made since our last meeting.
The Branding Research Subcommittee is engaged in the process of reassessing the RUL brand. Harry noted that the current brand does not reflect current work of the library, e.g. technology innovations/applications. The subcommittee is currently doing research; later in semester will meet to discuss their findings and begin to develop their report. The subcommittee members are: Harry, Merve, John, Tracy & Rose Barbalace (chair).
The Scarlet Latte reopening event has been deemed a success. We gave away 170 mugs, and coupons for free coffee.
The Café Management Team continues in their efforts to promote Café. They reported that some PR/Marketing initiatives have not worked well, yet the hiring of student employees has been a very positive change. Additional recommendations included: better signage (Francoise Puniello is looking at options), and a continuing review of the food & beverage products and prices.
Harry got help from a small subcommittee to run future events in the Scarlet Latte. Megan Lotts (Art Librarian) is creating hand-painted java jackets for an event in October. Harry plans to conduct a survey in Alexander Library to determine how students view the cafe. We hope to determine why they are not taking advantage of the food and beverage offerings, and and what changes they would recommend.
Fall issue of Essentials is out; November next issue due. Grace Agnew will contribute an article on the RU Analytic tool.
Marianne Gaunt plans to send a note to new faculty at Rutgers, encouraging them to subscribe to the newsletter.
