The group welcomed Dorothy Grauer from DANA-ILS to the Resource Sharing Group and the members introduced themselves to her.
This was tabled until March meeting since Judy Gardner and Henry Charles were unable to attend.
Camden RDS staff had a question about whether Systems would be able to run a report that can automatically remove holds on items placed with pickup library same as the owning library. Previously, Katie had asked Chris Sterback and he had said that it is possible to do this. Ideally the pull list would not have these items. This would save staff time used for manually removing these holds when they are on the daily pull list. Judy’s approval is needed. Nita will discuss this issue at the next Access Services Committee meeting.
Music Library is not a Pickup location in IRIS for ILL and PALCI or RDS. Patrons cannot select Music as a pickup location on the forms. Few errors were made by staff recently. Holds received with a pickup location of Music are sent upstairs to the Douglass hold shelf.
The group reviewed the following RDS forms: RDS – Uncataloged Materials; RDS – Paul Robeson Library, Camden; RDS – New Brunswick Libraries; and RDS – John C. Dana, Newark. The group agreed upon changes, and with Judy’s approval, the revised forms will be posted on the Staff Resources page.
Guests are not eligible to use these RDS forms.
Eugene/SMLR: The new scanner has arrived but is not yet set up.
Ray/Douglass: New staff member Bill Lynch has replaced Matt.
Dean/Annex: Rae Wong has begun at Chang; Adam is working evenings at Chang.
Glenn/ILS-Alex: Imaging Services is doing a lot of RAPID, about a 100% increase, and ILL is helping out with student workers. UPS is no longer honoring RU’s $40 processing fee for replacing lost items. Wednesday, April 12th, there will be an Open House at Alex/ILL Services for library staff and librarians at 10 AM. An announcement will be coming.
Carolyn & Dorothy/Dana: All is fine with RDS and ILL at Dana.
Katie, Theresa & Mary Ann/Camden: There is nothing out of the ordinary to report.
Kristen/Art: ILL and RDS are steady, with a lot of incoming RDS. Hold Shelf space is improved.
Linda/Music: There have been a lot of PALCI requests, including provisional. ILS and RDS are steady. Linda recently received a request for a CD, but Music Library does not circulate their CDs.
Holly/LSM: A noticeable number of UPS packages for PALCI are arriving in poor condition. Some patrons have been making simultaneous requests for the same title from multiple PALCI partners, resulting in 2 or more identical titles on the Hold Shelf for the same patron, who checks out one and returns the others.
Meghan/Alex: Requests have been stable, but Alex has been processing a lot of outgoing PALCI requests.
Drue/LSM: PALCI and provisional PALCI requests are up, sometimes more PALCI books than RDS books in the mornings. The new scanner is expected shortly.
Pat/CAS: Due to renovations on the 2nd and 3rd floors during spring break, 2nd floor staff are moving up to the 3rd floor, which crowds the library staff a bit.
Meghan/Alex: A new counter is coming for RDS.
Priscilla/Kilmer: There will be no heat or hot water at Kilmer next Monday and Tuesday.
Nicole/Alex: Nicole is back at Alex from Chang.
Nita/Douglass: Nita has been training Rae Wong from Chang library in RDS, PALCI and scanning. The group’s concern about the slow system response in PALCI was discussed at the February ASC meeting. Glenn had volunteered to send a formal request to Systems to improve the response.
Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held at Kilmer Library, Media Classroom on Tuesday, March 28th.
