- Ramon and Kelly Worth (admin) have been checking all the emergency doors in the library, since new alarm systems have been installed with the renovation.
- The library now has a new wireless system that lets circ desk staff pinpoint which door alarm has been triggered, and turn it off from there as well. However, Ramon expressed concerns that the alarm only sounds at the desk and not at the door. Patrons who mistakenly use emergency exits may not be aware of their error.

LSM
- LSM – The flood on May 18th was caused when a pressure valve exploded in the first floor restroom, which caused 60 gallons PSI of water to gush out onto the floor and into the public areas and reference.
- Since the water covered the power cords to most of the computers and the server on that floor – the building’s main power had to be shut off. The switch, which is located in the building’s basement, was difficult for Facilities to locate. Michelle has recommended that the switch be moved to more accessible location on the main floor. Fortunately, the water did not damage the PCs, the collection, and the server.
Math
- There is an ant problem on the floors and in the corners of the office and the circulation desk area, which suddenly started at the beginning of the month. The cause is unknown. The exterminator sprayed insecticide on 6/15.
- The double doors at the front of Math have been opening automatically, as if a gust of air is blowing them open. Facilities has been contacted.
- The glass windows that were put into the front doors have helped to prevent patrons from bumping into each other. Glass cutouts in the main doors allow patrons to see if someone is directly on the other end before swinging opens the door. A few patrons have been accidentally hit with the door in the past.

Security

Administration

Alexander
- Some books were found in the toilet by maintenance staff. Apparently they were discarded because someone did not like their subject matter. The police were notified and filed a report.
- A patron, who had attempted to stay in the library after closing previously, was observed not to have left when asked to leave at closing time. After that initial incident, Jeff Teichmann gave instructions that if he ever attempted to stay in the library after closing again, to inform the police. The campus police were called, but the patron was not located.

- They ordered keys for the fire/emergency doors and the wrong ones were sent. They are still waiting for the correct ones to arrive.
- The community police officer for Busch campus will be talking to LSM Access Services staff about emergency procedures during their next staff meeting. Ramon suggested that libraries ask the community officers on their campuses to do the same.
Math
- A security camera tape got stuck in the recorder. It has been fixed and is functioning normally.

Update on Projects

Ramon and Rose are continuing work on their project. They decided to use HTML instead of PowerPoint. Rose took digital photos and in the coming week she will add them to the document. After a final review, the project will be ready to upload to the NBL site. The walkie-talkies that are being tested at DGLSS are working well and are very useful.

- Rose has been getting a lot of new summer work study students, however they all seem to be unwilling to work on weekends, when they are most needed.
- The library received new book trucks, but they arrived a different color than had been anticipated, and therefore do not match the ones already in use.
