Announcements/Updates
- Bill Puglisi from Alexander Administration was welcomed to the group
- Anne Butman was introduced as the guest
- A handout of instructions for use when staff are injured or take
ill while on the job. This form is not to be confused with Injury
to Students or Public. Reviewed last month's discussion. If an
injury occurs to students or members of the general public and is
witnessed by an employee, then the employee must complete the
Injury Report Form for Students or Public
http://riskmanagement.rutgers.edu/PDFForms/Inj_Stu_Pub.pdf and
forward it to Risk Management. Apparently, this form is only going
to be available on-line with only authorized individuals given the
ability to report the situation on-line. There is discussion
on-going as to whom the Libraries representative for filling out
the forms will be. However, no firm decision has been yet been
reached on this.
- The committees new roster was distributed
Discussion Topic
- Penny suggested a staff workshop for computer use to be conducted
during intercession. Anne Butman will bring the suggestion to the
P.C. Working Group.
- Anne Butman distributed two documents: Protecting your Computer
and RU Secure. Anne discussed personal PC security. Machines are
most often compromised at the user level through social
engineering. Those trying to compromise are very sophisticated.
Don't open any attachments from an unknown source automatically
delete the message. Never leave a user id/passwords in a prominent
place. Virus and worms are prevented through virus protection
software. The library subscribes to Trend Macro.
- Anne will forward to Penny who she can contact regarding multi
site video conferencing for future meetings. Penny will contact
Katie Anderson for input on her experience with multi-site video
conferencing. We believe that as many as 5 sites can connect for
meetings.
Incident Reports review
- ALEX
- Patron vandalizing the men's room. RUPD called and spoke with the man who said he would be making restitution. Jeff was asked if he Jeff wanted to hand or have RUPD handle. Jeff opted for RUPD handling. Good practice for us to follow
- Homeless person wets herself and then threw up
- Suspicious person (more on this later)
- ART
- Patron fainted hitting her head causing it to bleed profusely. RUPD called.
- DOUGLASS
- Automatic entrance doors not working at closing.
- Elevator out of order
- KILMER
- Patron hurts her toe and was bleeding. RUPD called.
- Backpack and wallet were reported stolen. Fifteen minutes later, the backpack and wallet were found exactly where they were reported stolen, with nothing missing.
- A multitude of flyers were discovered outside the building upon opening in the morning. Appear to have been taped there overnight on the front door, windows and building patio pillars. It appears now that they may have been the handiwork of a disgruntled student who was not pleased that the library was closing at 11 p.m
Information Sharing
- Kilmer - New bathroom is open. Heat was turned on 10/13 and the
building is uncomfortably hot.
- Math - Fred requested updated food and drink policy information on
the blue table tents. Penny believes that this has been addressed
but will look into it and report back to the group.
- Alex - The roof repair is finished. The next big project is a fire
suppression system to be installed in the basement and
sub-basement to protect Special Collections material. The project
is scheduled to take 8 weeks.
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the November meeting is cancelled. Our next meeting will be in
December, date and location is TBA
