1) Announcements

Jean Madden from Camden has joined the group to replace Jennifer Reiber who has new responsibilities.

  1. Scheduling Software: The group is looking for scheduling software that allows supervisors to schedule past midnight. It needs to be open source and ideally not needed to be hosted on a server. Rose will look into our options.
  2. Student Listserv: The SCG will maintain a student listserv to announce new services, closings, and library events. We need one that only uses Rutgers email addresses. Camden uses Sakai to email announcements to students. Chiaki will follow up.

2) Extended Hours Pay Rates

Rose will draft a proposal to increase pay rates for extended hours employees. This proposal will request to increase rates by at least a $1 more than we currently pay, or the difference between work study and voucher rates. (For example: $9.50 to $10.50 and $11.50 to $12.50). This proposal will recommend extended hour employees to receive pay increases in accordance with the minimum wage and work study pay increases. Rose will consult with other sites that have extended hours to determine appropriate rates.

3) Future Workshop Ideas

Some ideas submitted were:

Chiaki will send out a Doodle poll to see if anyone is interested in working on teams to come up with content suggestions.

4) OCLC Training

Library workers and volunteers can take self-paced courses through OCLC's WebJunction. A couple of the courses include: "Dealing with Angry Patrons" and "Extreme Customer Service, Every Time". Jean, Liza, and Jacquelyn volunteered to take some courses and report back to the group.
