Common Current & Bound Control Record Patterns

Important: Any commonly used patterns or any unusually complex patterns not listed here should be posted to the Holdings Management section (RUL_HOLDINGS@EMAIL.RUTGERS.EDU) of the Technical Services Core Working Group for review and possible inclusion in this document.

Notes:

Whenever possible, select an existing pattern template as an aid in establishing the publication cycle (modify publication cycle where necessary)
The OPAC Display Tab determines what is displayed to the public in the Item/Copy line, but not in the MARC-H.
We should create bound control patterns that require the least amount of manual editing of auto-generated items/copies. When it is necessary to manually add an item/copy, you should mimic the auto-generated item/copy formats shown in this document as closely as possible (see pattern #14 below).
When manually adding a MARC-H 866 summary field, you should replicate the auto-generated MARC-H 863 formats shown in this document as closely as possible.
