Budget Overview and Outlook-Bob Sewell
Bob reviewed a series of tables with the group, noting at the outset that it was a mixed and confusing picture. Highlights of his presentation include the following points:
Update on Global Outreach Program-Mei Ling
Mei Ling handed out drafts of two web pages about the program she worked on with Thelma Tate. She strongly suggested that a coordinator is needed for the program if it continues. Other issues discussed included space/warehousing problems and difficulties contacting the Global Literacy Project people. It was noted that the global outreach program interlocks with general gift policy issues-that all gifts need to be looked at holistically, and there was a limit to what could be done at NBCG. Coordination with CDC re: overall gift policies was suggested.
Serials Team-New Developments-Gracemary
Gracemary introduced the members of the Serials Team and noted that we should query the team via its listserv. Three forms have been eliminated (Selector Funds Order Form, Trial Request Form, and ‘Free” Electronic Access Request Form) and all online subscription requests should now be sent directly to the Serials Team listserv. Gracemary is also developing a database of cancellations/ceased publications and dollars put back into funds.
YBP Approval Plan Questions
Selectors were reminded to place books they want reviewed by another selector on the designated shelf at TSB. Howard will ask Mary Page how our input on returns is being used.
Howard reminded the group that NBCG positions need to be filled.
Laura Mullen noted RUL now has a subscription to PsycCritiques.
