Agenda Update
Two items were added to the agenda–meeting dates for the coming year and a revision in the BI statistics form.
New Business
- New Brunswick Libraries Online Directory Team Report
We reviewed the excellent work of the team–M. Doyle, H. Huey, K. McGuire, and K. Wenk, and approved the directory, with minor changes.
- Meeting Frequency
We agreed to meet bimonthly–10/14/04, 12/9/04, 2/10/05, 4/14/04.
- BI Statistics Form
We reviewed and approved an additional form to report on internships, field experience students, and other for credit student supervision by librarians.
Old Business
- Voucher Requests for 2004-2005
M. Wilson presented her budget request, with information on allocations and expenditures for the previous year. She will present it to the Acting NBL Director as our request. There is money for hiring adjuncts for 100 and 200 level courses; Unit Instruction Coordinators should work with J. Cassel to get adjunct help.
- Data Review
M. Wilson distributed the NBL Ref. Desk and Off-Desk statistics, which will be posted on the web. Alexander off-desk statistics seem to be out of line. K. Mulcahy will raise this issue with Alexander librarians so that a clearer definition can be established.
- Outreach Services
An article describing the “Librarians without Borders” pilot, written by T. Kuchi, L. Mullen, and S. Tama, has been published in Reference and User Services Quarterly. The article was based on a pilot project initiated by the members of the ISSG.
- Marketing Library Services.
Suggestions include putting a Library icon on all RUCS computers–M. Wilson will pursue this with RUCS; advertising in campus buses and in student centers. R. Jantz suggested new book lists automatically generated by IRIS and sorted by subject area.
- ISSG Organizational Structure
Information Services Group and Information Services Steering Group organizational structure will be reviewed this year.
Reports
- Public Services Council–M. Wilson
Open URL–we have a new, free and evolving technology (without additional staffing) to try out. Technical challenges are expected and should be addressed to the form available as part of the Linksource.
PALCI is exploring article delivery service–RUL is 2 nd biggest PALCI borrower.
Reference Team Leaders should read PSC Minutes and other Council Minutes, along with reference team reports from all libraries.
- Douglass–K. Denda
Developments at Douglass include the single-service point; work on minimum competencies for information and reference personnel, and work on questionnaires for library patrons.
- LSM–P. Piermatti
Weeding continues.
- Branches–P. Page
P. Page will collect reference hours.
- PC Team–S. Bartz.
Redesigning NBL web pages to correct problems, add search features, and bring closer to RUL format.
Adjourned at 12 Noon.
