New Brunswick Libraries Faculty Meeting

Minutes:
- The agenda was adopted with changes. Items 4, 5, 6 viz., NB Information Services Group; nb_fac Listserv; Bylaws changes for NBL representative to PLACO were moved up to 3, 4, 5 respectively and AUL/IRS report was moved down to item number 6.
- The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
- NBL Information Services Group
Jane proposed that as per the NBL Bylaws, the Information Services Group should be resurrected and the NBLF group should elect a chair to create further structure for all NBL information services related discussions. Discussion about the history of NBL ISSG and needs for information services ensued. A proposal to hold an NBLF election for a chair of NBISG, who will convene the group, was approved.
- NBL Faculty Listserv
A discussion about the membership of NB_LIBFAC listserv was started by Jane via email prior to this meeting. Further discussion regarding membership and need to define the membership of this listserv ensued. At the end of the discussion, a motion "to retain the listserv for NBL faculty lines only as determined by AUL/IRS” carried with 13 for, 3 against and 4 abstentions.
- NBL Bylaws
According to the NBL Bylaws, the chair of NBLF will represent “the New Brunswick Libraries within the RUL structure” and will therefore, each year automatically represent RUL Planning and Coordinating Committee (PLACO).
- Acting AUL/IRS Report – Francoise Puniello
Francoise reported that currently the budget is still being worked out. Reference and Instruction schedules have been successfully planned by the Reference and Instruction Team. She especially thanked all those librarians who have gone out their way to share and exchange reference and instruction in libraries other than their home libraries. Farideh Tehrani is leading a team that is working on the restructure of administrative staff teams across New Brunswick/Piscataway libraries. Francoise Puniello, Jeanne Boyle, and Jeris Cassel are on Middle States Workgroups and committees. Discussions about the reorganization of undergraduate education are also continuing. Planning for a future Bonds issue funds are underway. One of the top priorities will be the Library Annex/Preservation Center.
