STAFF RESOURCES |
It is the policy of the Rutgers University Libraries to provide equal access to information to all members of the Rutgers community. Where self-use of library facilities an/or services are difficult or impossible, the Libraries will make special provisions as needed to permit users with disabilities to examine sources, retrieve materials, and access services.
In support of this policy, the staff will provide services and/or accommodations aimed at equalizing access to library resources.
The type and nature of the special assistance is usually determined by the request. Most special assistance can be given at the time of the request.
Some examples of the services which may be provided include:
1. Retrieval of materials from the stacks
2. Physical assistance with searching the Libraries' on-line catalog, related databases, and manual files and assistance with using microform and audiovisual equipment
3. Reference or other assistance by appointment
4. Photocopying assistance for onsite copying
5. Modified reserve loan periods
Questions relating to services for persons with disabilities at a particular library should be referred to the individuals from each library named on the attached list of library contacts. Questions relating to library system-wide services should be referred to the Libraries' Coordinator for Disabled User Services, Francoise Puniello at 908-932-9346. Users may also be referred to the Coordinator of Services for Students with Disabilities at the student's college of enrollment or affiliation (see accompanying brochure for names and telephone numbers.)
