The public ELF machines will be set up at Douglas, Alex, and Chang by the end of May. RUNet Transition is scheduled for Douglas, Physics and the third floor of Alex. 8 ACIC machines have been assigned to Administrative users so they can run the Rutgers Integrated Accounting System.
The primary problem the Dell machines purchased with ELF money have experienced is freezing up. Some plugins have been updated and that has helped. Macafee anti-virus software needs to be rescheduled so it doesn't conflict with our users or with Foolproof.
A videoconferencing setup is being ordered.
When the machines freeze, Control-Alt-Delete does not help, but only removes the icons from the screen. The operator needs to hold in the power button for 7-10 seconds to reboot. Signs will be produced that indicate this.
The PC Plan that the Group submitted to TSC was not what they were looking for. Grace Agnew will join us at a future meeting to explain what they want. The inventory spreadsheets maintained by the different units are not uniform in the included fields; the group needs to agree on what should be included for each entry.
