The new replacement plan machines have come in and have begun to be installed. Floppy drives were shipped separately and need to be added. Some machines came with USB keyboards that are being swapped out with other machines.
The Office 2000 updates continue. The Earth Day surplus property pick ups are coming up. The new Naxos music database requires the Windows Media Player; this will be added to the public machines on the Fall image.
Marilyn Wilt was unable to attend our meeting, but she spoke to Stephanie and Tony before and they presented her New Employee Orientation idea to the group. We discussed what new hires generally should know about computers when working in the library system. Tony and Stephanie will give Marilyn a checklist of what PC Coordinators need to go over with new hires.
John will incorporate final changes into the document and email it to Nick who will bring it back to TAS. Anne will have her Saving to CD document added to the PCWG Best Practices site.
The survey was run and responses generally indicated a desire for updates to Windows and the Office suite. Anne will check into getting a statistical breakdown of the responses.
Grace had inquired as to whether the recycled pcs RUCS was offering could be incorporated into our PC Replacement Plan. The consensus was no since the RUCS pcs were intended for use as public pcs.
