Minutes of June 19, 2007 Meeting

Present:: K. Au, S. Bartz, I. Beard, M. Belasco, A. Butman, B. Golon, N. Gonzaga, J. Hartstein, P. Johnson, K. Kuehl, J. Maxymuk, K. McGuire A. Ruggiero, R. Sandler and C. Singh.

1. Systems Update

The regularly scheduled maintenance window for the Illiad and Procite servers will be on Thursdays from 8-9am. Barring emergencies, all other downtime should be reported to the affected users/departments prior to a loss of connectivity.

Installs for the service desks and Clocktrak machines are being done now. The Macs for Kilmer and Douglass will be installed shortly.

Imaging Services is moving forward with e-copying.

2. Office 2007 Migration

Anne emailed the training dates for PC Coordinators. Coordinators and UCS’ will be the trainers for RUL, dates for that training will be announced. There will be Power Point Training presentations in the fall.

3. Public PC Authentication

Systems will install LDAP on public pcs for the fall, and authentication will be based on NETID. Systems will also test the use of barcode and pin as a backup system for Rutgers-affiliated users who are not eligible for NETID however this will not be available for fall '07 and may not be available at all as more and more the university is moving towards the use of NETID. Anne will send out a draft policy to the list. Systems needs to know what machines will use authentication before the fall image is done in August.

4. Old/New Business

We discussed using the Ticket Database for updating inventory, that Systems will image installs first and then send them out to their respective UCS who will then install the machine for the user at the unit. Swapped machines will be sent back to systems for reimaging and redeployment. Also discussed was the move from J Client to C Client in December.
