Systems is sifting through applicants for Shevon's position. Anne has hired a student who is formatting and imaging machines as well as helping out in TAS at this point.
Systems is in the midst of the installs of the new staff pcs. Anne will send the group a link to the calendar of scheduled installs per unit.
Two points to remember: there is no LDAP filter on in-house public machines; if a user updates Java, they will be offered a free version of open Office, they should not accept this offer.
Nick is busy testing the Windows server software and is distributing servers.
The Fordham Lab equipment has been ordered; the live date is in January.
The Workflows C Client will be completely gone by January 31, 08.
New pcs come with Office 2007. Acess Services and Tech Services are being upgraded to the new version now.
Daryle offered detailed training on the full capabilities of our copier/scanner/printers. This can be scheduled via an email to Daryle, and he will consider the plausibility of creating a Flash presentation.
Daryle announced a new CD/DVD duplicator that can perform mass duplications of disks for a fee.
Rich reported that the Tanberg in Special Collections is being tested with the Internet. He also noted that all that remains to be worked out on the Virtual Reference Desk station are logistical issues. The hardware and software are working.
Andrew reported that a new study room has opened in Douglass.
The next meetings are scheduled on November 20 and December 18 at 10AM in the TSB Conference Room.
