Systems Update
- LoJack for Laptops has arrived, lending laptops to be deployed Jul 1
- ILLiad server being moved to new hardware due to loss of warranty on previous hardware; target mid Jul; will necessitate some software configuration changes
- Old harware will be used as Iliad test server
Calendar project
- RULMail pilot (Zimbra) moving along
- Migration numbers (attached) with who will be responsible for what departments
- UCSs to confirm numbers by Jun 30 Joe will count all of Alex (other than SCC) Include shared departmental calendars
- 247 total users to be migrated
- Users of RULink are priority migrations, due to RULink decommission on Oct 1
- Migrations are contigent on the approval of costs by Cabinet
- Currently 54 pilot users, 25 will have been migrated by end of this week
- Two training sessions for pilot people, one specifically for PCWG
- 15 pilot users have not attended training session Bulk of the 15 are AULSs; Tibor will look into an AUL-specific session
- Tibor has verified that we will be moving ahead with Zimbra
- Anne will send out migration timeline
- Supported RULMail software by IIS
- Outlook client at user request (less feature rich than web client)
- Thunderbird will be supported as an email client only due to calendar problems
- Zimbra Desktop
- Blackberry users are the only users that need third party software to synch wirelessly
- Best results with Notify Synch $99 start, $65 continue
- Expense is covered by individual department
- Jun 28 UCS meeting will go over the migration procedures
- Anne will make arrangements with Nwk and Cam UCSs
- OIT has provided pilot training, but RUL will be responsible for wide training
- Outlook training
- Advanced training for web client
- Possible need for subgroup; partner with Marilyn Wilt
PCWG Chair
- End of the fiscal year; chair offered up
- Joe Abraham will be the new PCWG chair
Old/New Business
- New PC installations were delayed by lack of security cables, but the cables have arrived
- IIS will get to Kilmer during August reimaging
- New Macs will be installed during August reimaging
- Desktop conferencing
- Adobe Connect licenses are limited Nick will check with Gayle Stein to see if rooms can be used by multiple users
- Adobe ConnectNow is free, and might be useful
- Rich will look into the options with others Informal review of available software with recommendations
- Backup subgroup
- All hardware for automated backup has been received
- Nick will create a diagram illustrating the movement of data between servers
- Policy on what will be allowed to be backed up needs to be created
- All users have same quota
- Testing is underway with Master Backup
- Another data use survey might be necessary to understand storage requirements
- Need to run Master Backup for each profile on machines with many profiles
- Will meet again in July
- On Rich's recommendation, videoconference firmware not being updated as current firmwares meet the current minimums
- Rich reports that the UL conference room will get a new projector, new unit (Tandberg), new programming of touch screen by Jul 31
- Will investigate re-using the old one
