Join Elizabeth Surles, archivist at the Institute of Jazz Studies, for a curated listening session featuring recordings by the female performers, composers, and arrangers highlighted in the exhibit Records at Play: The Institute of Jazz Studies @50. From Bessie Smith to Carla Bley, the evening will present a smorgasbord of women in jazz and include a wide variety of jazz styles.

Light refreshments will be provided after the event.
Free and open to the public.

This event is the second of a three-part series of jazz listening sessions led by Institute of Jazz Studies scholars in partnership with the Paul Robeson Galleries. These listening sessions will be held in the exhibition space of Records at Play: The Institute of Jazz Studies @50.
