Applications Open for IJS Fellowship Program

Applications are now open for the 2019 Institute of Jazz Studies Archives Fellowship Program.

This program supports archival career development through a combination of practical training and seminar-style learning opportunities. The two-week residency, from June 17 to June 28, 2019, includes opportunities to explore the institute’s unique holdings and to arrange a describe a representative collection under the supervision of IJS archivists; visits to New York metropolitan area music archives; discussions and hands-on learning experiences about archival and digital collection management issues; and meetings with Rutgers faculty, staff, and administrators about diversity and how it can be served by a specialized archives like the IJS.

“Completing the IJS fellowship at Rutgers was an amazing experience and one that I will forever be grateful for,” wrote 2016 fellow Veronica Johnson about her experience in the program. “I learned so much about processing and the steps it takes to make a collection available to users.”
