Author John Bader will discuss strategies for making the most of college, including tips from deans of America's top universities.

John Bader, executive director of the Fulbright Association, will speak about his book Dean’s List: 10 Strategies for College Success (second edition, Johns Hopkins University Press, March 2017) from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Alexander Library. The event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are encouraged.

While college hopefuls invest great time and energy into getting accepted by the schools of their choice, many put less thought into how to make the most of their time once they get there. In Dean’s List, John Bader draws on advice from deans at leading universities—including Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Yale, and Columbia—as well as over a decade of experience as a dean at Johns Hopkins University to present strategies designed to help new college students succeed. From “focus on learning, not grades” to “learn from diversity at home and abroad,” the 10 approaches outlined in Bader’s book will aid graduating seniors, first-generation, and non-traditional students alike in having the most productive and rewarding college experience possible.

Following the presentation, Bader will take questions and sign copies of the book, and the Rutgers Office of Summer & Winter Sessions will sponsor a drawing for free copies. Free parking (for non-university guests only) is available in Rutgers Lots 26, 30, or the College Ave Parking Deck.

John Bader is the Executive Director of the Fulbright Association and previously served Johns Hopkins University for over a decade as a dean of academic advising and of undergraduate academic affairs. He is the author of Taking the Initiative: Leadership Agendas in Congress and the "Contract with America"
