Digital Learning Commons Coming to Alexander Library in Fall 2020
Working together, great things happen. This spring, the Rutgers–New Brunswick Chancellor’s Office is partnering with the Office of Information Technology, the Office of Disability Services, and New Brunswick Libraries to create the Digital Learning Commons at Alexander Library. This forward-looking destination will enrich the student experience through diverse and flexible space configurations along with blended state-of-the-art, accessible research library resources and technology tools.
We’ll be keeping the Rutgers–New Brunswick community informed through monthly communications that include floor plans, furniture concepts, service updates, and timelines. We are excited to implement the concepts gathered through multi-channel feedback, and to work together to implement a design-based, innovative space that invites our community to share ideas; work independently and together to advance learning; and to simply pause, reflect, and regenerate.
Transformation is a process. To realize our Digital Learning Commons, Alexander Library will close its reference room on Monday, January 13, 2020.
Impacted services and collections include:
- Reference desk assistance | Professional librarians will be on call. We encourage users to contact them through the reference assistants at the Alexander Welcome Desk.
- Public access computers and printing | Public access machines will be available in the Alexander Government Documents area on the main floor.
- Selected reference book collection | The reference collection will continue to be findable in QuickSearch and located in our Alexander Government Documents area on the main floor, other New Brunswick Library locations, or online.
- Access to New Brunswick Libraries Administrative Offices | The Alexander Library Administrative Offices will continue to operate through the renovation. Access will be available through alternative routes that will be communicated at the Welcome Desk.
We thank our community for your collective patience through our transformation. Questions? Send questions to: email@example.com.
