Historic Newark Newspapers Now Available Online
Several historic Newark newspapers—the Evening Star and Newark Advertiser (1907 and 1908), The Star and Newark Advertiser (1908-1909 and also two issues of morning editions from 1908), The Newark Star and Newark Advertiser (1909), and the Newark Evening Star and Newark Advertiser (up to 1912 with more to come)—are now available online in Chronicling America, the New Jersey Digital Newspaper Project recently announced.
The New Jersey Digital Newspaper Project is a collaboration between Rutgers University Libraries, the New Jersey State Archives, and the New Jersey State Library. It is part of the National Digital Newspaper Program, a long-term effort by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Library of Congress to develop a searchable online database of U.S. newspapers from all 50 states.
