New Edition of Bates' Videos Available

The Bates’ video series provides “head to toe” and systems-based physical examination techniques as well as 10 OSCE clinical skills videos.

Rutgers University Libraries have recently licensed the fifth edition of the Bates' Visual Guide to Physical Examination streaming videos. 

The Bates’ video series provides “head to toe” and systems-based physical examination techniques.  The videos cover adult, infant, child, and older adult patients.  Each video may be viewed as a full volume or chapter-by-chapter.  The 18 available videos are:

  • General Survey and Vital Signs

The video series serves as a compliment to the Bates’ Guide to Physical Examination and History Taking book.

This resource also provides access to 10 clinical skills videos that will assist in the preparation for Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).  Each presents a clinical encounter; viewers are then given the opportunity to develop an assessment or differential diagnosis and provide an appropriate diagnostic workup.  The subjects include:
