Citation management tools make it easy to save, organize, and cite references.

Research involves collecting and synthesizing information from a variety of sources and attributing those sources through proper citation. However, managing and citing sources can be a tedious process that requires meticulous collection of bibliographic information and detailed knowledge of citation rules and formats.

Citation management tools make it easy to save, organize, and cite references so researchers can focus more on writing and analysis.  They allow users to import citations from websites and online databases, organize them into personal libraries, insert in-text citations and footnotes into papers, and automatically generate bibliographies in any citation style.  There are a variety of free and paid services available to help manage citations, but which tool is the right choice?

Rutgers University Libraries support several citation management tools including Flow, EndNote, and Zotero. These tools perform the same overall function but each offers slightly different features.  The Citation Management Workshop Series on March 18 will demonstrate how to use these tools to organize references and streamline research.

All students and faculty are welcome to register and may bring their laptops to the workshops.
