On Exhibit at Robeson Library: Jersey Collective: The First Two Years

Jersey Collective on Exhibit

Jersey Collective: The First Two Years is on display at the Paul Robeson Library now through June 15, 2017.

Jersey Collective is a collaborative Instagram project that showcases the beauty of New Jersey and the talent of photographers who live here. Over 100 diverse people from all over the state have been featured, from as young as age 13 to over 50. Each week, a different person takes over the Instagram account, treating followers to their unique style and point of view while sharing their favorite parts of the Garden State.

The images displayed in the exhibit are a selection from the first and second years of the project, spanning from March 2014 to March 2016.  All of the photos were taken with mobile phone cameras. To participate in Jersey Collective, one does not need to be a professional photographer.

Jersey Collective also holds in-person meet ups, workshops, and events. They have offered a sunprinting workshop, a tour of Bell Works, and meetups at places like Allaire Village, Sandy Hook, and Cattus Island Park. They have held two exhibitions in Asbury Park at Cowerks as well as at the Rutgers Art Library in New Brunswick. Jersey Collective has been featured in the Asbury Park Press, New Jersey Monthly, and on News 12.

You can find Jersey Collective on Instagram at instagram.com/jerseycollective and at jerseycollective.org.
