New Jersey First: The Life and Legacy of Senator Frank R. Lautenberg
through Friday, August 10, 2018
Alexander Library, Special Collections and University Archives
New Jersey First: The Life and Legacy of Senator Frank R. Lautenberg commemorates the late senator’s legislative accomplishments and celebrates his devotion to public service. The exhibit draws from the Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Papers, an archive of Lautenberg’s papers and other materials that have been donated to Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
After a long career at Automatic Data Processing (ADP), Lautenberg became a towering figure in New Jersey politics. He served five nonconsecutive terms in the U.S. Senate between 1982 and 2013, the year he died. Once completed, the Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Collection will provide access to thousands of documents and hundreds of hours of audio and video that chronicle the senator’s career.
In making Lautenberg’s papers available to the public, Rutgers’ Special Collections and University Archives and the exhibit’s sponsor and partner in the project, ADP, have created a trove of primary source material that will be of tremendous historical value to the state and the nation.
The exhibit is on display in the Special Collections and University Archives gallery.
