1. Reserves module

2. Stopwords

The stopword list currently in VuFind includes more than twice as many words as the list used in the legacy catalog. The list from Symphony should replace the VuFind list with the exception of the word “is” which will be omitted. “IS (Organization)” is an official LC subject heading whose searchability and linking breaks when “is” is treated as a stopword.

3. This Just In…

The Physics and Astronomy category will be broken up into two categories. QC1-QC850 will remain under Physics and Astronomy. QC851-QC999 will be moved to a new category labelled Meteorology & Climatology.

4. Item Types/Type-Circulate codes

Type-circulate information is currently displayed in VuFind using the same codes that were used in the legacy catalog. In order to make these more easily understandable, LCC is drafting new descriptive text to display in place of the codes (e.g., DSSRTNRU-N might become Rutgers Doctoral Dissertation - In-Library Use Only). The discussion document was reviewed and various changes to language were suggested. Stephanie will update the document and redistribute to LCC for additional review.

For the first round of testing, the information in the circulate code will be omitted from items that circulate normally or that are available online. If feasible, non-circulating material will indicate “In-library Use Only” and items with special circulation rules (e.g., laptops) will say “Short-term Loan.”

Some records should be cleaned up to make item types more accurate. Several codes have already been slated for removal because they contain no items. Melissa will consult Mary Beth Weber about removing Chart as a type and reassigning the 4 items that use it. Dissertations and theses have not been consistently cataloged with the DSSRTNRU and THESISRU codes, so this is a potential project. FILMLOOP needs to be looked at to determine whether we still own the material. DATABASE, and NETWR also need to be looked at to determine whether the items have been correctly assigned.
