1. Item Types/Type-Circulate codes

LCC is looking at the possibilities for converting the current type-circulate codes (e.g., DSSRTNRU-N) into more user-friendly language. The type portion of the code would be more clearly descriptive (e.g., RU Dissertation).

The context sensitive request buttons are reliant on the circulate (i.e., -Y and -N) portion of the code, so any changes to that piece will need to be both clear and concise. Labels for items that circulate, don't circulate, and those that are available online will be considered.

The note that specifies when an item has multiple pieces will need to be relocated in the holdings portion of the record. It currently appears between the status and type-circulate code.

2. Labels (e.g., Basic vs. Keyword)

Usability testing of the Catalog is expected to take place in December with analysis of test results carrying over into the new year. LCC will revisit labels after the analysis. Any subsequent label changes will be postponed until the summer.

3. VuFind index schema

A list of fields that are searchable in VuFind (similar to the bracketed field search option in the legacy catalog) is available at https://vufind.org/wiki/index_schema. Joseph has been testing to determine which of these search options work in the Library Catalog. The group agreed that these could be useful for advanced searchers, so, once testing is complete, the list of options will be added to the VuFind help page.

4. Information sharing

Inquiries from library faculty and staff about use of the VuFind API should be referred to Chris Sterback.
