1. Systems Update

Ed Smith is the new employee with Systems.

Systems is continuing with the replacement pc project.

Anne Butman has begun planning the new image that will be installed on the public pcs in the summer. Please any suggestions on to her by June 1.

In response to the budget-crunch, TAS is moving to a networked printing approach rather than individual deskjets. There will be certain exceptions however these will only total a small handful of users.

There was a problem for some users who downloaded updates where their Office 2007 suite was uninstalled. Systems is not certain why or even how this happened however if this happened to anyone in your area and they need to have the software reinstalled please put a ticket in.

2. Network Migration

Nick said he is progressing along according to his revised schedule and is allowing up to a week for each unit. The switch over will occur in June. He also noted that software that is most problematic with the migration is that of OCLC and that of PDA interaction.

3. Old/New Business

Joe asked John to follow up with Public Services regarding the RefWorks support issue we previously discussed.

Rich noted that the debate continues whether to go with Tandberg or Lifesize in the future. He also said that there may be money available to purchase a new mobile teleconference unit. Joe recommend we first fix the existing mobile unit and not expect more from the unit than the technology is designed to do.

James will look into the screen freezing problem with Netops software in the electronic classrooms. Anne Butman will give James the vendor info.

Kevin asked about the possibility of new machines for the public areas coming out of funding from this fiscal year. Anne Butman said she would ask Grace Agnew about this.

4. Local Updates

Joe reported that the reference team at Alex is looking into ways at limiting public pc “campers,” those who stay on a machine for hours.

Darryl said some year-end money may be used for new scanners at Chang, the Annex and Robeson.

5. Future Meeting Date

The next meeting is scheduled for May 20 at 10AM in the TSB Conference Room.
