Description

Oxford Islamic Studies Online is a comprehensive reference center designed to disseminate authoritative, balanced scholarship from a global perspective and provide a source of timely, reliable, and accessible information on the history, peoples, beliefs, individuals, and cultures that constitute the world of Islam. The site includes the full content of four key scholarly works, two essential English-language interpretations of the Qur'an, a standard concordance in the English language and primary source documents.

Access to Oxford Islamic Studies Online, through February 28, 2014, is made available through the Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys, a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and conducted in cooperation with the American Library Association. Support was provided by a grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York. Additional support for the arts and media components was provided by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.

The database may be searched using an A-Z subject list. Nine different search forms and a browse feature for biographies, images, maps, primary documents and chaptered works are also available.
