To find a journal, magazine, or newspaper article in the most popular databases in your subject area, enter your search term(s) and choose a subject from the pull-down menu. To view a complete list of indexes and databases available at Rutgers, click on View all databases. For more information see "How Do I Find an Article?"

To find books and more in the Library Catalog, enter your term(s) and select a search type in the pull-down menu. For more information see "How Do I Find a Book?"

To find a print or electronic journal in the Rutgers collections, enter its title or keywords in the title and select the appropriate search type in the pull-down menu. For more information, see "How Do I Find a Journal?"

To find a list of books, textbooks, and electronic articles placed on course reserve by your instructor, enter your instructor's last name and search. You can also use the pull-down menu to search by course title or number.

What do you need?

I need a book!

  • You can search the Rutgers University Library Catalog by title, author, or subject.

  • Click here to find more detailed directions on how to search for a book.

  • Need to find a book in the library? Our call number finder will help you find the exact location.

  • If you need a book that is not available from the Rutgers Libraries (not owned, checked out, or otherwise unavailable), you may be able to request the item via E-ZBorrow.

  • If your book is not available through E-ZBorrow, you may be able to get it through UBorrow, a service that lets Rutgers share materials with the other members of the Big Ten Conference. Search UBorrow

  • If you have tried all of the above and still cannot get the book, put in an Interlibrary Loan request to get the book from another library.

  • If you have the citation of the article you need, you may be able to go right to the article using  .

  • If you have the citation of the article you need and Citation Linker is not helpful, try these other suggestions.

  • Looking for an article but can't get it full-text through the Rutgers library site? You can place an Article Delivery and Interlibrary Loan request to have an electronic (PDF) copy sent to you.
