Robeson Library's latest exhibit celebrates the rich and varied literary voices that have emerged from the Rutgers–Camden Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program. Drawing from the program’s alumni publications and accomplishments, it highlights the breadth of genres: fiction, poetry, memoir, nonfiction, and speculative writing, that showcase the creative evolution of graduates and the lasting influence of their time at Rutgers–Camden.
The display spotlights notable alumni achievements such as Malik Abduh’s All the Stars Aflame, Isaac Blum’s Morris Award–winning The Life and Crimes of Hoodie Rosen, and Michael Deagler’s prizewinning Early Sobrieties. It also showcases the wide range of alumni contributions, from Sarah Browning’s longstanding career in poetry, to Micaiah Johnson’s acclaimed science-fiction novel The Space Between Worlds, to Ru Freeman’s cross-cultural essay collection Bon Courage. Collectively, these works demonstrate a thriving community of writers whose voices continue to resonate nationally.
QR codes throughout the display allow visitors to easily access the writers’ websites, where applicable, providing opportunities to learn more about their work and ongoing creative projects. The exhibit serves as a testament to the power of mentorship, community, and sustained artistic practice, revealing how the Rutgers–Camden MFA program continues to shape and inspire the contemporary literary landscape.
