First World War

The First World War is a collection of digitized primary sources produced by soldiers, civilians, and governments on both sides of the conflict and in multiple theatres of war. The original materials in this collection are from libraries and museums from around the world. Rutgers has access to four modules on this platform, which are organized by topic:

  • Module I: Personal Experiences
  • Module II: Propaganda and Recruitment
  • Module III: Visual Perspectives and Narratives
  • Module IV: A Global Conflict

Rutgers does not have access to any other modules on this platform.

The collection includes a wide variety of material types, such as diaries, personal narratives, oral histories, trench journals, photographs, posters, cartoons, aerial leaflets, correspondence, field reports, recruiting posters and materials, military instructions, tribunal case files, artwork, and film clips.
