Description

Latin American Histories in the United States is a collection of digitized primary sources documenting everyday life, culture, and grassroots activism in Latin American communities from the mid-20th century through the early 21st century. Many of these materials focus on life in the United States, but there also are some materials focused on life in Central and South America. The collection includes materials that reflect the experiences of under-represented groups, including Latina, LGBTQ+, and Afro-Latine identities. It includes a wide variety of material types, including art, letters, periodicals, photographs, posters, speeches, audio, video, and more.

The materials in this collection were sourced from local and national libraries across the United States, including:

  • Gerth Archives and Special Collections, California State University, Dominguez Hills
  • University of California, San Diego
  • CUNY Dominican Studies Institute, City College of New York
  • GLBT Historical Society, San Francisco

Please note that some materials may include views or terminology now considered to be outdated, biased, or offensive.
