Socialism on Film: The Cold War and International Propaganda

Socialism on Film is a collection of digitized films originally produced in communist countries during the 20th century. Films were produced in the USSR, Vietnam, Cuba, China, Korea, East Germany, and Eastern Europe. Film genres include documentaries, newsreels, and feature films.

These films were originally collected by British communist Stanley Forman, who, after World War II, formed his own production company sourcing films from communist states, dubbing them into English, and privately distributing them throughout Britain and the West. Before his death, Forman donated his collection to the British Film Institute. This database was created by digitizing Forman’s original 16mm and 35 mm reels.
