Derwent Innovations Index is an index of worldwide patents issued since 1963. It includes data from over 14 million basic inventions and over 80 million patent documents drawn from 50 patent-issuing authorities worldwide. The database offers patent searching as well as cited patent searching, which allows you to find the patents that cite a patent or patents.

Each patent’s record includes a descriptive title, a brief abstract describing the novelty of the invention, and classifications and codes that allow you to discover related inventions and patents. All patent titles and abstracts are in English, and data for patents originally published in other languages has been translated into English. Derwent Innovations Index is produced by combining data from two databases: Derwent World Patents Index, which contains value-added patent information, and Derwent Patent Citation Index, which contains patent citation information.
