Description

Women in The National Archives consists of two distinct components:

1. Digitized primary source documents from the UK National Archives document the campaign for women’s suffrage in Britain, 1903-1928, and the granting of women’s suffrage in the colonial territories, 1930-1962. This set of documents from the National Archives has been fully scanned, and documents may be viewed online or downloaded.

2. A finding aid to all women’s studies resources in The National Archives (UK), completed in the 1990s, allows you to identify materials held by the The National Archives on various topics relating to women. It does not contain the documents themselves; rather, it allows you to identify materials that are held at The National Archives.

The database also includes a chronology of women’s rights in Britain from 1820 to 1970.
