Digitale Bibliothek Deutscher Klassiker is a collection of major works by 34 German authors dating from the Middle Ages to the early twentieth century. It is based on the print series of scholarly editions, Bibliothek Deutscher Klassiker, published by Deutscher Klassiker Verlag Frankfurt am Main. All the texts have been edited by leading international scholars and are accompanied by extensive commentaries that reflect the most recent research. All content is in German.

For each author, the collection includes complete or selected works. Literary genres represented include prose, poetry, drama, diaries, and letters. The collection also includes supplementary sources providing background material and context, such as historical, philosophical, theological, political, and art history texts.
