Latino Literature: Poetry, Drama, and Fiction
Latino Literature: Poetry, Drama, and Fiction is a collection of creative works by Latino authors. Novels, poems, and dramatic works are the main focus of the collection, but it also includes supplementary materials related to dramatic productions such as playbills, production stills, and audio files, and it contains a small amount of miscellaneous nonfiction. All works are reproduced in their entirety. The majority of works are in English, but around 25% of the collection is in Spanish.
The collection includes a large number of previously unpublished works collected directly from the authors. There are approximately 60,000 pages of fiction, 32,000 pages of poetry, and 450 plays, 200 of which are previously unpublished. Authors represented include Ivan Acosta, Manuel Ramos, Cristina Garcia, Jaime Carrero, Eduardo Machado, Josefina Baez, Pedro Pietri, Miguel Piñero, Lynne Alvarez, Tomas Rivera, Rolando Hinojosa Smith, Virgil Suarez, Lucha Corpi, Tato Laviera, Judith Ortiz Cofer, Oscar Zeta Acosta, Jaime Manrique, Piri Thomas, Luis Valdez, Alurista, and Michael Nava.
Majority of works date from 1960-present, but a small number of works date back to 1872.
