Using the Libraries during COVID-19

LIBRARY STATUS

Access to library buildings is restricted to library staff providing essential services, but we're open online and have started a pickup service for our circulating collections. Due to campus restrictions, Click and Collect is limited to Rutgers faculty, staff, and students. We're working with the university and the state to investigate how to safely open our spaces.


CLICK AND COLLECT

Our circulating collections are now available via low- or no-contact Click and Collect service. You can request materials via QuickSearch. Turnaround time is usually 3-5 business days, but may be extended due to material quarantine. You'll receive an email when your materials are ready for pickup, with instructions for making an appointment.

Pickup is available at the following libraries. Choose a library for specific pickup instructions:

  We're also offering delivery by mail. You can request this by selecting Personal Delivery > Home Address in QuickSearch. You'll need to confirm or update your address in your QuickSearch account. Please allow a minimum of 7 days for delivery.

  When you come to pick up your materials, please bring your Rutgers ID. You must wear a face covering, maintain social distancing, and follow instructions provided by our staff.

  Access to non-circulating and special collections is currently unavailable.

  Click and Collect is limited to Rutgers faculty, staff, and students. Contact us if you have questions about your eligibility.


RETURNS

You can return Rutgers materials to the following libraries, as well as materials from the libraries in the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA, listed here under Member Libraries). Exact return procedures vary by location. Choose your library to view specific return procedures.

  Returns might take a while to register in your account due to staff limitations and material quarantine.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN AND E-ZBORROW

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) has resumed, but you may experience longer delays than usual as our network of partner libraries are in various stages of reopening. You'll receive an email with Click and Collect instructions when your materials are ready for pickup. E-ZBorrow and UBorrow remain suspended for the time being.

Submit requests by logging into ILLiad, the request system (first-time users will need to register).


ARTICLE/BOOK CHAPTER DELIVERY

Submit requests for articles by locating the item in QuickSearch, logging in for request options, and choosing Article Delivery. If you prefer, you can log in directly to ILLiad, the article request system (first-time users will need to register). You can also request book chapters via ILLiad.
