Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Article Delivery

Our policies and procedures are different while access to library buildings is restricted.
ILL and Article Delivery are available for Rutgers faculty, staff, and students. E-ZBorrow and UBorrow are now available. Physical materials can be picked up using Click and Collect. We've resumed digitizing articles and book chapters from our print collections.
Turnaround times for ILL may be longer than usual due to material quarantine and the status of our partner libraries.

You can use our ILL services to request books, articles, book chapters, microforms, conference proceedings, or other materials that aren't available at Rutgers, or to request a digital scan of an article or book chapter from one of our collections. Physical materials can be picked up from any Rutgers library.

Unfortunately, Rutgers University Libraries cannot facilitate interlibrary loan requests for textbooks or other required course materials. Because they are generally used as course reserves at their respective institutions, these items are not eligible for loan to other libraries.

Students can purchase or rent textbooks through the Rutgers University Bookstore, while instructors can request that items be put on reserve for their students. Instructors are also encouraged to work with the Libraries through our subject specialist librarians or Open and Affordable Textbooks Program to identify free or low-cost alternatives to their traditional course materials.

ILL services are available, free of charge, for current students, faculty, and staff; faculty emeriti; visiting scholars/faculty and students; RBHS volunteer faculty; and Rowan and CCC affiliates.

For questions about Interlibrary Loan, E-ZBorrow, UBorrow, ILLiad, or Article Delivery, please send us a question via email. Rutgers also lends books and articles to other institutions.
