Finals are quickly approaching, and the pressure is at its peak. Here are three ways Rutgers University Libraries are helping students succeed at this crucial point in the semester:

1. Extended Hours

Libraries across Rutgers’ three main geographic locations are offering additional hours to increase the availability of study space during reading days and final exams. The hours at each location vary based on local exam schedules and typical library usage patterns.

At Rutgers University–Camden, Paul Robeson Library will be open later every day from Thursday, December 11, through Wednesday, December 17.

At Rutgers University–New Brunswick, the Archibald S. Alexander Library on College Avenue will be open 24 hours a day to Rutgers students, faculty, and staff for select periods of time starting Wednesday, December 10, at 8 a.m. The James Dickson Carr Library on Livingston campus, Library of Science and Medicine on Busch campus, and Mabel Smith Douglass Library on Douglass campus also are offering periods of later hours.

At Rutgers University–Newark, Dana Library will be open later on Friday and Saturday nights throughout final exams.

These locations will be open to the public for specific hours. Outside of these public hours, Rutgers students, faculty, and staff will need a valid physical Rutgers ID card to enter or remain in the building. This helps ensure that students can access study space during high-need periods.

For the most complete and up-to-date information on each location’s hours, including Rutgers-only hours, visit the library hours web page.

2. Stressbusters

During a prolonged period of high stress like finals, it’s important to take time out to de-stress and recharge. That’s why you’ll find Stressbuster events at all library locations. Whether you need a self-care workshop, serene chamber music, arts and crafts, or hot beverages and snacks, the Libraries have you covered.

3. Bookable Spaces

The Libraries offer nearly 100 private study rooms that students, faculty, and staff can book for free. The available options can be filtered by campus, library, number of seats, and/or amenities. While these spaces are available all semester long, the demand for them reaches a fever pitch during finals.
